    Wash Hands Often

    Bacteria and flu viruses can live on surfaces such as doorknobs, desks, and electronic devices. Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds helps remove pathogens and prevent the spread of flu viruses.

    If soap and water are not available, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.     Wearing a mask is an effective way to prevent the flu, especially when you are in crowded places or in high-risk environments such as hospitals or public transportation. Masks help block droplets containing the virus when you cough, sneeze or talk.

    Make sure you use your mask properly: cover your nose and mouth, avoid touching the outer surface of the mask, and dispose of the mask after each use. Wearing a mask not only protects you, but also helps reduce the spread of flu viruses to others.
