The program is implemented by Sandoz Company in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Pharmaceutical Association and medical partners to promote the responsible use of antibiotics in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the 5-year campaign will be prepared from 2024 to 2028;

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that from 2020-2023, nearly 270,000 people in Vietnam will die due to antibiotic use.

The rate of antibiotic resistance in Vietnam is high due to many reasons such as overuse and misuse of antibiotics, selling antibiotics without a doctor’s prescription, and inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.

“Simply put, this means that the patient, or often the patient’s parents, choose antibiotics at random or antibiotics to treat common conditions that are not effective.”

According to experts, antibiotic resistance (AMR) in Vietnam is a health hazard, leading to infectious diseases that are difficult to treat, increased mortality rates and increased medical costs.

Antibiotic resistance threatens many medical advances, such as surgery and cancer treatment.

Long-term overuse and its impact on rural and low-income communities increases health disparities.

Already in the 2024 community program within the framework of preventing and controlling antibiotic resistance, it is expected to launch a series of large-scale educational activities to raise community awareness of this issue. .
